Skip Beat [Chapter 226]

Maria interrupts Lory and says that she is pretty much prepared to go to school. Lory points to the phone and says that this is Ren. Maria says that it is okay for it seems that they are talking about some serious topic so she’ll take time to talk with him next time. “As compensation, you help me in asking Ren-sama to give me a call next time♡” After putting on her coat, Maria tells her grandfather that she’s going. After Lory told her to take care on her way, Ren asks Lory if that is Maria. Lory says yes, and what is going on for she knew that he [Ren] is the one whom he is talking with yet she would go straight to school. “When before, she only has to hear your voice and she’ll snatch away the phone while talking midway.” Ren slightly smiles and says that she has some kind of sense for she is a child who grew up among adults so perhaps, she noticed something. Lory tells him that she’ll forget it for now since it seems that it is very serious and as compensation, just make Ren call her next time. As Maria is thinking of something while walking, Ren says okay, he’ll find an opportunity to call her. Lory apologizes and Ren says that it is okay. Then, Ren sees Yashiro on the phone telling someone that they’ll immediately go down. So, Ren takes his bag and starts to bid Lory goodbye. Lory[/Ren] tells him about that thing, to pay attention to her tendency [/movement] and it is almost this conclusion..

After going out of the room, Yashiro says that despite that, Kyouko’s actions is truly very astonishing that just by listening, he couldn’t sit still. Ren agrees and obviously earlier, she was quite at a loss and minutes later, it somehow became that kind of development. Holding his head, Ren says that even if being proactive and optimistic is a good thing but then, this is a bit quite a jump..for there should be some sequence.. “Unexpectedly, my eating video would give her such a huge vitality. I truly totally cannot understand it. It felt it seems that I have pushed her anxiousness behind her and that’s no good. [<- not too sure; probably not let her vent it out but kept it inside]” After thinking a bit, Yashiro suggests that he might as well take some eating videos again. Ren asks why. Yashiro says that didn’t Kyouko become lively after seeing his eating video. Ren says yes. Yashiro says that the significant effect one after another..that..perhaps.. in spite of Ren’s image is like ‘wolfing down his food’, it gives a weak person significant courage and power to survive--.. something like not being defeated by this. Ren darkly says that it seems that Yashiro is praising him but he totally couldn’t be at ease by that.

Yashiro says to shift the recording earlier in case Kyouko becomes depressed, then it can be used, those new works [/videos]. Wondering if it has already been decided and is it really not just for self-satisfaction, Ren says that obviously Kyouko didn’t ask for it. Yashiro protests that can be considered as a protective charm. After entering the elevator, Yashiro says that it is only that and no matter what happens, it will be alright. Ren recalls Kyouko telling him that it is only with this then she feels that she is alright. Flashback: Holding her Love Me heart stamp book, she points to the seal and says that this represents an incalculable ‘unlimited’ possibility seal and it also represents success’ ‘you did really great’. “If I first get this, it feels that ‘success’ will subsequently come.. *happily smiles* it is because Tsuruga-senpai gave it to me so it has a special meaning..” End flashback. Ren recalls Rick saying, “—you can do it. [You] can absolute win. Yes. As long as you apply magic to the girl who has fallen in love with you.” Ren looks dark and thinks, wrong, wrong, so it is said.. Ren tells Yashiro that in this world, not only is he classified as a winner, even more, as among the upper social class.. Yashiro exclaims what, all of a sudden!!

Ren says that he didn’t think that basically, there are people who believe that an omen for success can be effectively and frantically chased after.. After they reach the B1 and go out of the elevator, Yashiro says no..even if what he said is correct but for Ren to personally say those words, it will make people feel very hurt and it will make [common] people resentful so he isn’t allowed to lightly say out those kind of words. Ren tells him that effective omen and magic isn’t the same right.. Yashiro is puzzled by magic, not the same, what about it, suddenly asking that. Then, Ren realizes something and mutters, okay, it’s complete. There is a picture of DR. ‘ability to learn’ injecting tranquilizer on Ren’s head and saying, ‘Okay, okay, wish, desire, you’re more awake compared to yesterday so pull yourself together.’ Yashiro is totally clueless over what happened as he walks with Ren towards a taxi driver bowing to them. At café Viviane, Kyouko sits on the upper floor’s table and looks at her stamp book. She flips it to Ren’s infinity seal and she smiles. She thinks that she got a protective charm that beckons success from Ren, she has a victory goddess that Queen Rosa has awarded to her [the necklace], and there is her life’s backbone∙healing and preventing disaster friend [Corn]...

...“Quite perfect..!! Today, my little comrades are all present!!! It is alright!! Fighting!! Assembling such strong comrades, being defeated whatever is absolutely impossible!! *looks dark* [Pupupuuutt..trumpet is sounded] Afterwards, I only have to march toward the battle ground wearing the battle outfit..!! *image of Kyouko wearing Love Me suit as everyone are going to charge for war* --I didn’t think that today.. all of a sudden, I’m going to see her already--.. What’s up with this so fast development when obviously, this morning when I called, I only want to obtain a appointment through the intermediary [/mediator]--..” Flashback: This morning, before SHR, Kyouko is on the pay phone. The other party said ah, if it is like that, she can see her today since she is free starting at 3pm or rather, it seems to be a rare free time. Kyouko went into shock about it being today. She asked if there is some other free time. The other party said that he thinks that there ought to be no other time. “Deciding on some other day or time, the vigor of you two would have weakened right? Isn’t it good to ride on that vigor and go see her? Of course, if there is a problem with your time.. before school dismissal, ask for a leave of absence.” End flashback.

Kyouko gloomily thinks that she is not quite willing for obviously it isn’t work yet she left school early. She thinks that person is right for it felt that it is better to ride this momentum and rush in--.. “Actually, last night, I made a statement and it is also just by impulse at that time. She told Ren that with the help of this vigor, next time, she wants to face [and fight] the worrisome enemy head on. After seeing Ren, it seems that something possessed her and blew in enthusiasm [/passion] that boosted her up. She has sunk into melancholy. Kyouko wondered what’s up with that facing head on..even if there is no definite time when she’ll do it..is it alright..it can be said..it is soon in the future.. She looked at the heart stamp book and looked at Ren’s infinity seal. She thinks that it is really great that she was able to get Ren’s seal. End flashback. Kyouko smiles and thinks that afterwards, she’ll also take it out today. <- once in a while, she’ll take them out in order to admire and that’s all for obviously they are of no use but she still brings them. Rosa is always together with Corn.

The bell on the door rings. The waitress welcome a customer. Kyouko looks at the door and sees Fujimichi being asked by the waitress if he’ll smoke. He tells her no. She tells him to choose the seats at this side of the floor. After he thanks her, he pushes up his glasses and mutters, next.. Kyouko goes to Fujimichi and apologizes for today and she is indebted to him. She introduces herself. Fujimichi looks surprised. After taking their seats, Fujimichi says that he is really startled for she is totally not the same with the Kyouko-chan he remembers. Kyouko asks if that is when they met when she is 3-4 years old and that means.. She darkly thinks that it is possible that it is totally not this reason..her situation.. She imagines her naturally pure young self who’ll foolishly smile. Fujimichi says that it is indeed at that time but he only saw her once or twice yet she unexpectedly remembers him. Kyouko admits to him that she doesn’t quite remember his face but it is because his name is a bit familiar. “So, when I was browsing through Viride General Law Office’s homepage, I saw your name. It just got connected like that.”

The waitress puts coffee on the table and tells them to slowly enjoy their drink. Fujimichi says about that, what if it is just the same name, what would happen then. “Regarding that passport thing.. I’ve unexpectedly got a letter from some unfamiliar girl saying, ‘can you pass on to my mother Mogami Saena this travel ticket and consent letter?’ Even if you ask like that, it is also possible that I won’t give it, right? *pushes up eyeglasses* No one will know even if I take out the things inside.” Kyouko nervously laughs and says that it is indeed so. She admits that she also thought of the possibility of that happening, and it is only 5 percent. “But thinking of mother’s ignoring ability, the possibility increases to 7 percent that she possibly let it be and mail it back.” Fujimichi asks about this ignoring ability. Kyouko says that it is not paying attention to ‘other people’s perspective’. “Because from before, she is a person who is really concerned with this word ‘face’ [/reputation]. If that nature has not changed, I think that it is possible that she’ll mail it back. Even if Fijimichi-san is a person whom ‘she might know by mistake’, but since it is already passed through a third person who knew about the letter and had handed over the consent letter to my mother, that person absolutely cannot ignore the consent letter.”

Fujimichi somewhat smiles and says that she’s truly guilty of being intelligent. While stirring his coffee, he says, “..in the end, if your parents have clear reasoning [/thinking], no matter whom [either of the parents] the child is similar with, it will become a good child..” This surprises Kyouko that she asks if he knows her father. To her shock, Fujimichi drinks his coffee and says, “No, I don’t know the details [/fundamentals]. I don’t know what he looks like. I also don’t know his name.” Kyouko thinks that isn’t it better for him to say that he totally doesn’t know rather than say that he doesn’t know the details. Then, looking serious, Fujimichi says, “No.. that’s wrong.. it is correct to say, ‘I don’t know his real name’.” This surprises Kyouko that when she is about to ask him what he meant.. Fujimichi puts down his coffee cup and says that he’ll leave it here for today and regarding the other things, isn’t it better to ask the person herself later on. Pushing up his glasses, he says that in the end, he cannot casually tell other people his colleague’s ‘life’s greatest landmine [/weak point] story’. Kyouko darkly thinks geez, since he knows of that landmine up to that kind of degree, then don’t causally bring it up!!! “What am I to do now!! It has already totally something that I cannot ask out!!...

...*recalls how she hugged Ren and asked why, what’s wrong with her that she hated her, what’s the reason* If I don’t know then, without brains, I’ll go and ask clearly about everything--!!! It already almost without a doubt. *gloomily walks out the café with Fujimichi and rides in his car* The reason that person hates me. Because from the very start, when she scolds me, my father was never mentioned. It is because similar with father, [I’m] an idiot-type. I thought that this is certainly not related to father. Might as well say, on contrary, saying it out from the mouth, one would feel unhappy that physically and mentally, would make oneself be frozen over!!! *looks confused-dizzy while sitting beside Fujimichi* And, this is totally different from me saying curses in dreams. Might as well curse my whole life.. –perhaps, she and I had come across the same thing. *imagines Shou leaving with Shouko.* Went through..? Is it so--.. perhaps, it is to say that compared to me, it is more-- *crying and tearing off Shou’s poster* cruel. Then, how could I-- No good. I cannot ask out anything.”

Kyouko calls out to Fujimichi and says that in the end, just forget it, wanting to ask about it..just treat it as if it didn’t happen. Fuijimichi says, “..is that so--.. Too bad. We are already in this kind of situation.. Because I don’t like inconvenience, I do not want to go back already *Kyouko freaks out for he is already parking the car in Viride office’s car park* Afterwards, in the first place, she, the target, is currently right there.” He points out the window to Saena who is walking across their car. Kyouko goes !!? !!? !!? Putting his head out the window, Fujimichi calls out, “Hey- Mogami- where are you going-?” Kyouko totally freaks out, “Wa ah ah ah, you cannot call her ah ah ah-!!!” While holding a car key, Saena turns to Fujimichi. He says that didn’t he say that he’ll bring a guest so he asked her to stay at the office and do not go out. Heading towards him, she says that she’s preparing to go back before the appointment. Kyouko clings on the seat and kept on freaking out over what to do. Fujimichi asks Saena where she is preparing to go.

Standing in front of Fujimichi, she tells him that she’s going to Ken for he said that he wanted to eat Amakiro[?]’s matcha red bean cream filled taiyaki. “It is because before writing poetry, he is nagging about it so I’ll sent some to him” Fujimichi tells her that she pampers Ken too much for didn’t he tell her that Ken’s whispering about full affection [/love] with desserts is only just his ego’s climax [/orgasm] lately and besides, it is okay to just not mind him on the third time. Bending down to Fujimichi, she says that even if he says that.. She looks surprised upon seeing who is with Fujimichi. Narration: “Indeed, I have already prepared my fighting awareness and heart but this is because I want to always face the question that I’ve been deliberately ignoring. Searching for the answer. That it is called my life’s biggest. That scar with a sharp blade plunged into it. But my goal is not at all to forcefully dig out that sharp blade. *looking sad, scowls and clenches her fist* --it is also not for the purpose of.. *opens the door and goes out of the car to face her surprised mother* ..hurting this person that I came here--” Next chapter will be out in Japan on August 20th.

Comment:Apparently, Kyouko is indeed going to face her mother as in deliberately and not coincidentally. And fortunately/unfortunately for her, things are moving towards that in such a fast pace that she doesn’t seem to be quite ready yet. ^^; As a reader, that is good since this issue won’t be dragged further. It seems to find the answer for that question that she always avoided in fear that it will hurt her further but then, it seems that she would rather not ask about it anymore. Not too sure if asking for the reason will push through but definitely, it seems that she is going to find some closure with her mother since she doesn’t plan to have revenge against her mother for hurting her or any other negative stuff like that. Lory and Ren are at a total loss over this development and I wonder how they will react when they learned that Kyouko immediately faced her mother the next day after that TV thing. Fujimichi is correct to say that she must ride on the momentum especially since the broadcast was just yesterday so it is good timing to ask about it.

It is a surprise that Fujimichi knows Kyouko from before and he is the intermediary between her and her mother. So, the thing about the passport is revealed..it is most likely Saena is forced to sign the consent letter since it passed through someone else rather than it was directly sent to her. Now, the big revelation for me is about the father. It is not known if he is still alive or not, and what he did but to not know his real name. Is he some showbiz guy? Was he relatively unknown for Fujimichi to not know what he looked like. Did Saena indeed go through something crueler than what happened to Kyouko because of a man? Is the hatred really because she is like her father? Well, it is for sure that Kyouko is currently like her mother before because Kyouko is currently in love with a guy and she doesn’t know his real name. I wonder if this will be a stimulus that will make Kyouko become more curious about Ren’s real name. ^^ Whoever the father is, I really hope he isn’t Kuu or blood related to him. We already have many hindrances in their current relationship and the thing that will really drag this on is a forbidden love. ^^; Anyway, I find that part in the parking quite funny. Kyouko is thinking too much that she didn’t notice that they are already there and Fujimichi isn’t incline to waste his time for nothing =P

This part actually showed Saena’s somewhat human side about pampering her boss, casual interaction with a colleague and looking surprised to see Kyouko. Maria has also grown. She isn’t too much of a fangirl with Ren anymore and knows when to do that. I wonder if what Maria is thinking then. Kyouko’s name wasn’t mention on Lory’s side but she must realize who the girl is for Lory and Ren to be talking about her. I wonder if Ren will take more eating videos of himself and would somehow realize that it isn’t the videos but he himself that made Kyouko forget her troubles at that time. I mean Kyouko not having the same reaction if she sees new eating videos. About the doctor bit, I wonder if Ren went into Kuon mode then, so the doctor is there to suppress it so that he’ll go back to Ren/working mode. ^^; I’m curious though how come Ren isn’t driving himself because that taxi driver seems to be their ride to wherever they are going. Maybe that will be for a side story. I’m amused when Kyouko is looking at her charms/magical items. I’m thinking if she only knew that they are all from one person ^^ I guess it is only because she was with Ren that she is filled with fighting spirit to tell Ren that she’ll fight head on. She doesn’t feel that way when she woke up from sleep =P Anyway, we can hope that we’ll learn more about what happened to Saena that caused her to hate her daughter and probably some closure in some way so we can now move on to other things.
