Last Game [Chapter 42]

There is a pause after Yanagi invited Kujou to his house. Thinking that it’s over for him if he keeps this up, Yanagi nervously laughs and says no, he isn’t forcing her to come but rather, it is because there is an empty room at his place like his sister’s room.. He becomes aghast for her sister is going to kill him if he let someone else stay in her room. He starts chuckling and thinks that on contrary, this is better, Kujou is quite decent.. “That’s right! How can I say this, Kujou would also unlikely accept this condition..!” Kujou asks if it is okay. To his surprise, relieved Kujou says that he is really a great help to her. She starts texting to inform her mother about it. She tells him not to mind her for she’ll just sleep at the corner of the floor. “After all, today is quite cold. It is really a huge help. Thank you, Yanagi.” She turns around to see Yanagi blushing, aghast, angry, scowling speechless. <- already do not know if he should be happy, sad or be angry. Puzzled Kujou thinks he looks scary.

While Yanagi does some light karate chops on her head saying you, geez, he is thinking that he nearly wanted to lecture her thick skull about this wrong behavior but it might appear that it is improper to stay overnight at his house so he has no way of saying it. “Do you really not care about me that much..!” [<- look at him as a guy] At his apartment, Yanagi tells her to wait for he’ll go and tidy things first. He goes in to put things aside and hopes that nothing strange is left around. He never thought that things unexpectedly progress to this stage. He kept on repeating to himself that Kujou is his friend and he mustn’t have distracting thoughts. Outside, Kujou is thinking that she came over here thinking of that same feeling when she stayed at Fujimoto’s place and also when everyone stayed at Souma’s place. Staying overnight = fun. Now that she thinks of it in detail, she will be alone with Yanagi this time. She wonders what to do for it seems that she felt a bit nervous. So, the two wonders if it is really no problem at all. Inside his apartment, Yanagi tells her to put her things aside. Then, Yanagi says that they forgot dinner and it would have been okay if they resolved that while on the way there. Kujou says that since it is like that, she’ll..

Then, she looks at living room’s table. She recalls that is where Yanagi kissed her. Just when Yanagi is asking if he’ll buy some take-out food, he is shock to see her bending down on the floor. He exclaims what’s up. After nervously thinking that it is here where.., she stands up and says that it is nothing, if it is dinner, she’ll do it. Yanagi says okay. In the kitchen, Kujou is telling herself to not think of that first since today she is intruding at someone’s house for the night so she has to pull herself together. She must not have distracting thoughts. Okay. When she opens the refrigerator, Yanagi pops from behind her and says that he remembers that there is nothing much in his refrigerator. Holding a kitchen knife to him, Kujou tells him to first go to that side. Yanagi thinks that she is still ferocious [/murderous-looking] towards him as always. Soon, Kujou manages to fix some soup and donburi [rice bowl dish]. After eating, Kujou apologizes for the simple dishes she made. Yanagi says that it is delicious and he’ll tidy things up.

Kujou notices an electronic piano at the side. She asks Yanagi if he plays. Yanagi says that it is his sister’s even if he can more or less play a bit. Kujou says that she never touched a piano so can she try it out a bit. With an arrogant look to show off that he is amazing, Yanagi offers to teach her and tells her to call him ‘teacher’. Kujou says how come she suddenly felt not interested anymore. So, Yanagi teaches her where Do is and her hand should be shaped like she is lightly holding an egg and the thumb is like this.. She thinks that always until now, it has been the usual but right now, she is nervous again. She steals a glance at him and thinks that his hand is very big and really beautiful. He asks if she is listening to him. Trying to play, she asks if it is like this. He says no. She asks like this. He says wrong. Later on, he says, that’s right, in the end his way of teaching.. They notice that they are so near each other, face to face, that they become uneasy. He nervously mentions about taking a bath, does she want to take a bath. She tells him to go ahead first. He says okay then, she can watch television for a while. She says okay.

In the bathroom, Yanagi thinks that he was startled to death for basically that is a suitable way of maintaining friends’ distance but if it is at the house..how can he say it, when he is outside, he can endure a lot of things but once it is here.. He washes his faces and says no, it is alright, self-control! But then, after he is finished bathing, she’ll also come in to.. <- had a delusion. And, he starts washing himself again while telling his heart to be the same as usual and Kujou is a friend..! Afterwards, he apologizes to Kujou for making her wear his clothes after she bathed. She takes the clothes and thanks him. She then goes into the bathroom. After a pause, Yanagi busy himself by writing a report and who can beat him in seriously studying. Then, he rests his head on the table. He blushes and sighs over how he can possibly concentrate. In the bath, Kujou thinks that the moon can be seen from there. It is so spacious that she has no way of calming down. She wonders which is his shampoo and what brand is it. She smells it and says that it has his scent. She thinks that today, trivial matters make her heart beat nonstop when obviously before, it isn’t like that. It is quite baffling for it is like everything, all of it is.. because she likes him.

Just when Yanagi has started to concentrate in studying, Kujou comes out to thank him for lending her the bath and can she use the blower. Yanagi freezes for it is the man’s dream, ‘wearing boyfriend shirt’ even if he isn’t her boyfriend. He puts his head on the table and says that he is going to die tomorrow for he is so happy today. He starts apologizing to her and says that there’s no need to feel guilty. Yanagi asks could it be that he has no blower. After he gives her the blow dryer and she is drying her hair, Yanagi comments that it isn’t easy to have long hair. Kujou says that she has long hair for a long time that she is used to it. To her surprise, Yanagi offers to help her dry her hair. While helping her blow dry her hair, Yanagi thinks that she really didn’t refuse and really makes him uneasy even if he is also taking advantage of it. He asks if it is hot.[<- air from the blow dryer] She says no. Kujou finds it ticklish yet relaxing. Yanagi tells her that his sister is very strict about letting people use her room so is it okay for her to sleep in his room and he’ll just sleep on the sofa. She says that’s not good for it is okay for her to sleep on the sofa.

Yanagi asks how she can let her do that. She tells him that she already appreciates it that he let her stay so for her, this is a small issue. After telling her not to suddenly turn her head to him since it is dangerous, Yanagi tells her to listen to him for how can there be a person who let a girl sleep on the sofa while he sleeps on his own bed. After he turned her head around again, Kujou feels guilty and tries to protests. He leans down to her and asks what she wants to do. “Do you want to sleep together with me?” She looks flustered and starts to wonder what to say. He chops her head again and angrily exclaims how come she didn’t refuse and of course, it is a joke. Snapping out of it, Kujou says that’s true. Yanagi asks if one has to say that, friends would do this kind of thing. Okay, if she understands it then go to his room to sleep. She finally agrees. While hugging a pillow, Kujou thinks yes, they are friends even if he already has someone he likes. She already wanted to be friends with him forever but right now, on contrary, she felt hurt [by that]. She is indeed very willful. “What kind of person is the one he likes. What should I do for him to like me...”

Then, Yanagi notices that Kujou has fallen asleep. He bends down to her and thinks that she really has a lot of guts to suddenly sleep defenselessly in front of him. He touches her faces to wake her up or else, she’ll catch a cold. “..hey, if you..really won’t wake up, I’ll--..” He bends down to her and stops midway from kissing her. After some restraint, he manages to force himself away from her. Crying Yanagi thinks that he couldn’t do it while she’s sleeping or else, he’ll only feel guilty and would have no way of looking at her tomorrow so forget it. After sighing, he apologizes and carries her up. He thinks that she didn’t even wake up a bit and her face look so steady. He pulls her head to him and says, “..what should I do to make you like me--..”

The next day, Kujou wakes Yanagi up. While Yanagi is still sleepy thinking that it is a dream, Kujou says that it seems that she fell asleep. Sorry and thanks for carrying her to the bed. Yanagi remembers that Kujou stayed at his house last night. To his delight, she even made some breakfast so if he wants... While he is still not thinking straight, Yanagi wonders why they are not going steady. He lamely says that he’ll partake of the food. She is happy over this. Preparing to eat, Yanagi says that he’ll drive her home after eating. Kujou tries to refuse when.. Ding dong. Kujou asks if it is a guest. He says that it doesn’t seem to be from the front door.. He wonders if it is his sister but then, she doesn’t ring the bell. Just then, his mother comes in and says that she always tell him to come and stay at home for the weekend yet why would he always wouldn’t come! Today, she is going to drag him home with her.. She freezes to see that on a Sunday morning, Yanagi has a messy hair, Kujou is wearing men’s pajamas and they are having breakfast. His mother covers her mouth in shock. Freaking out Yanagi exclaims, “My mother ah ah ah--” [<- in Chinese, that can also be like, what the--]

Comment: Ah..it is indeed amusing that they have the same thoughts for each other yet not knowing how the other person really felt for them. ^^; How to make her/him like him/her. Ah, they already do. And, they still have the same issues that hinder them. Lol, I seem to be repeating what I mentioned a few chapters ago. Anyway, let’s hope Yanagi’s mother’s misunderstanding can help move things along further ^^ Actually, I think we would get some comedy out of that. ^^ Scans by 红莲汉化组
